Counting On star John David Duggar announced he was courting Abbie Grace Burnett just last week, but it looks like the couple is already breaking Jim Bob Duggar’s famous courtship rules. John David and Abbie Grace have already started joint Instagram and Twitter accounts (which in Duggar world usually means that an engagement isn’t far away), but now they are causing controversy by going out unchaperoned and having physical contact with each other.
The anti-Duggar Facebook page Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray – who was the only source to correctly reveal in advance that Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson’s wedding date was June 30th – has posted pics of John David and Abbie out at a Walmart on the day they announced their courtship.
In the photos, the couple is shopping at Walmart without a chaperone, which is usually a younger Duggar sibling. But, an insider says that the couple broke another courting rule.
“John grabbed Abbie’s a**,” says the source.
The Duggars have a strict no physical contact policy until a couple is engaged. Jim Bob and Michelle only allow courting couples to “side hug,” but any other physical contact is a strict no-no. Counting On fans have watched Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joy-Anna, and Joseph all follow the physical contact rules while courting, but it looks like John David might be exempt.
According to In Touch Weekly, some fans think that since the second-oldest Duggar son is 28 years old and Abbie is 26, the couple might be old enough to go out without a chaperone. And, he is taking advantage of the situation by copping a feel when he can.
John David and Abbie Grace have also been spending some time with members of the Duggar family. The couple went out on a double date with Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo, and John David’s little sister captioned a photo of the foursome by writing that her brother’s smile “is a bit brighter these days,” and then added a winking emoji.
When John David introduced Abbie Grace to fans on a TLC video, he let them know that she is a nurse who he has known of for several years, but, they didn’t meet until a few months ago when he flew to Oklahoma for a church event.
Abbie Grace says that is when the two “got connected,” and he added that the two “fell in love very quickly.”
John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett say that their journey together so far has been wonderful.
Season eight of Counting On premieres July 30th on TLC.
