Counting On star Jinger Duggar is happily married and expecting her first baby this summer, and she wants other ultra-religious girls to experience the same joy. Duggar posted a pic on Instagram over the weekend promoting the book She’s Got The Wrong Guy: Why Smart Women Settle by Pastor Deepak Reju, and she says she is sharing it with some of the women in her church.
Duggar married Texas pastor Jeremy Vuolo in November 2016, and the couple has a baby due in July, but she is spending some time right now helping single Christian women learn how to avoid bad boys. For those who haven’t found mates to “equally yolk” with yet, she believes Reju’s book is a great read and recommended that her fans search for it on Amazon.
Reju is the Pastor of Biblical Counseling and Families at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. At the church, he counsels families and individuals, leads groups, develops the counseling ministry’s vision, supervises the counseling team, and is also part of the Biblical Counseling Coalition.
Reju says he wrote the book because some Christian women “settle” for the wrong men when they can’t find a religious guy and struggle with their faith. In a blog on the Biblical Counseling Coalition website he used the example of a woman he knew from church who “spent time with a non-Christian, and as she grew emotionally attached to him, it became easier and easier to compromise.”
He then said that he wrote the book about who not to marry and gave a list of the ten types of men that single women should avoid. Reju’s list included: the control-freak, the promiscuous guy, the unchurched guy, the new convert, the unbeliever, the angry man, the loner, the commitment-phobe, the passive man, and the unteachable guy.
The author wrote that some men will do everything in their power to charm, manipulate, and win your affections. He says they will sell themselves as a decent bill of goods and the kind of guy you want to marry. But, if you find yourself with the kind of guy that is on his list, he says to be very careful.
“Apart from genuine repentance, faith, and humility, these men are not worthy of your time. They are the wrong kind of guy to date and marry,” Reju wrote.
He added that apostle Paul said that your main goal as a Christian single is to live your life with single-minded devotion to God.
When Duggar isn’t spending time advising single Christian women, she is enjoying her pregnancy. She is also taking advice from her mom and sisters, including the wisdom Jessa shared about enjoying eating extra calories. Last week, she took to Instagram to show off a picture of her baby bump while indulging her cravings at The Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
Jinger Duggar returns in new episodes of Counting On later this summer on TLC.
