Fans of Counting On know that Jinger Duggar is the “free thinker” of the family. She was the first Duggar kid to move away from the family home in Tontitown, Arkansas, to live in Laredo, Texas, with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo. And, when she got married, she quickly started wearing pants, short skirts, and heels because her husband thinks that it is ok.
Vuolo – a former professional soccer player, turned pastor – appears to have some ideas that contrast with his famous in-laws. And, if you listen to his sermons, his views seem to be a bit more liberal, but not by much.
According to Romper, in one sermon Vuolo made some intelligent and compassionate arguments against harshly judging others. He told his congregation that they should never judge people and act as if they have never struggled with the same sins or never walked in the passions of the flesh. And, that sounds good, but he does contradict himself in other sermons.
In one he basically said that the existence of transgender children is the result of bad parenting. When talking about a reality series that features a family with a transgender daughter, he said that the parents have no discipline over the child, and they don’t instruct her on what is right and wrong. Instead, it is just, “Whatever you feel, you do.”
Of course, fans know that Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick Dillard, lost his job on Counting On for his transphobic Twitter rant against I am Jazz, star Jazz Jennings.
Vuolo also seems to be as homophobic as he is transphobic.
“All you have to do is look at the sexual revolution pressuring them, and they cave in to a worldview that rejects God’s truth and embraces popular opinion,” Vuolo said last fall. “Do you want to see the gun? Do you want to see the threatening of being burned alive?”
He went on to talk about the revolution of popular thought and the postmodernism of today’s culture. Vuolo also pointed out the sexual revolution and the false definitions of tolerance and love.
So, just because he is ok with his wife wearing pants and appears to be more liberal than Jim Bob and Michelle, he is still extremely conservative.
Thanks to a recent Instagram post, fans think that they may soon get the chance to find out more about Vuolo because they are speculating that he is writing a book. Vuolo posted a screenshot from a word document with “Jinger” highlighted as being spelled wrong. The software program suggestions were Jigger, Ginger, Inger, Binger, and Finger.
He jokingly said that he has had enough of Microsoft Office’s discrimination against his wife’s name, and he will take the fight all the way to Merriam-Webster if he had to. But while most fans focused on the correction, some noticed the sentence.
He gave no context, and that was the only sentence on the page. We don’t yet know what he was writing, but it looks like it could be a book.
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo return in new episodes of Counting On later this summer on TLC.
