Society may have a particular set of standards when it comes to being a “manly” husband, but Counting On star Jeremy Vuolo has his own ideas. The 30-year-old has been spending all of his time lately adjusting to life as a dad, but he hasn’t forgotten about his wife and what it means for him to be an ideal partner.
A fan of Vuolo’s recently tweeted, “The world says a manly husband is: indulging in lust, insensitive, into himself, inexpressive. The Bible says real men copy Christ: he initiates love, he’s compassionate, he’s self-sacrificing, he verbalizes his love.”
Vuolo responded to the tweet by writing, “spot on.” And, considering his marriage to Jinger Duggar seems to be nothing short of #relationshipgoals, he obviously knows a few things about married life.
Vuolo’s in-laws reached their own marriage milestone this week. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on July 25th, and they wrote that they are thankful for so many beautiful, wonderful years together and they know the importance of keeping the Lord at the center of a marriage.
Jim Bob also shared a husband’s basic needs in a blog post, and they included a wife who is loyal, supportive, and grateful. The Duggar patriarch also believes a man needs a wife who honors his leadership, makes appeals instead of demands, and who develops inward and outward beauty.
As for Vuolo, he may have mastered being a husband, but the daddy thing is still a bit of a challenge. Jinger gave birth to their daughter, Felicity, on July 19th, and Vuolo recently posted jokingly about his lack of sleep and his new, long-term relationship with coffee.
Jinger revealed in a recent interview that when she saw her husband in the delivery room holding their daughter for the first time, it was such an emotional experience that she cried. The 24-year-old said in that moment she “melted,” and Felicity is blessed to have such a remarkable father.
The new mom also revealed that her husband was with her throughout her exhausting labor, and he gave her the encouraging words she needed when she didn’t think she could do it anymore because of the pain. Vuolo told her that he knew it hurt, but she was stronger. Jinger says she couldn’t have asked for a better husband and partner.
Jinger Duggar added that having their 8-pound, 3-ounce baby girl at home has been incredible, and she and Jeremy Vuolo “can’t stop staring at her adorable little face.”
Season eight of Counting On premieres Monday, July 30th on TLC.
