Counting On star Joy-Anna Duggar welcomed her first child last week when she gave birth to 10 lb. 3 oz. Gideon Martyn Forsyth and most fans responded with such happiness and excitement that you would think it was their own family that had expanded. However, there were some ways that the reaction to Duggar’s birth announcement was very different from what happened when her older sisters became moms.
Per The Hollywood Gossip, Duggar’s pregnancy has been controversial from the moment she let fans know she was expecting because many believed she was lying about her date of conception. Rumors swirled that the 20-year-old had gotten pregnant before she got married and that she and Austin Forsyth had a shotgun wedding to try to cover it up.

Since the Duggar family is so staunchly opposed to premarital sex, it would have been a big deal if Joy-Anna would have gotten pregnant out of wedlock and disastrous for the family’s wholesome public image.
Many fans believed that Joy-Anna would give birth way ahead of schedule and prove that she had been misleading the public.
But, the reality star ended up giving birth 39 weeks after tying the knot, and Gideon’s arrival finally put all those conspiracy theories to rest.
However, instead of admitting defeat and congratulating the young couple, Duggar haters quickly transitioned from accusations of a shotgun wedding to the mourning of Joy-Anna’s lost youth.
Apparently, some people believe that at the age of 20, Joy-Anna is too young to be a mother.
But, for others, it is the fact that Joy-Anna and her husband didn’t spend any time alone together until their honeymoon that is ludicrous.
The argument does have a valid point, but Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar do not allow their children to be alone with the person he or she is dating. Instead, they must always have a chaperone, and the parents monitor all phone communication.
“Too bad y’all couldn’t have gotten to really know each other before you brought a baby into the world. You said yourself you were never alone until your wedding night,” wrote one fan on the Forsyth’s’ shared Instagram page.
Others wrote that Joy-Anna looked exhausted and they were sad that she hadn’t gotten the chance to live her life yet before becoming a wife and a mother.
Joy-Anna may look tired, but she also appears to be very happy, even though she had to bring a baby home to a house that they have not finished remodeling.

The Forsyth’s bought the dilapidated house a few days before their wedding and attempted to fix it up before baby Gideon arrived. During the home rehab, the couple lived in an RV on the property.
Joy-Anna gave fans a tour of the home just a few days before giving birth, and she revealed that they weren’t quite finished with the remodel, and they probably wouldn’t get it done before the baby arrived.
