Former Counting On star Jill Duggar can’t win no matter what she does. Everything she posts on social media seemingly results in backlash, and even though a lot of it is unfounded and completely ridiculous, there are some fans who just can’t resist criticizing the reality star. Duggar recently shared a sweet, innocent pic of her and her two boys, and you won’t believe why some people think she is neglecting her kids.
According to Romper, some fans are accusing Duggar of neglect because her boys are pale, and that must mean they aren’t healthy.
Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, have lost a lot of fans over the years thanks to his controversial and offensive comments on social media. He has made transphobic remarks against Jazz Jennings (which led to TLC firing him from Counting On), and he has said hateful, homophobic things about Nate Berkus and his husband, Jeremiah Brent, who are the stars of Nate & Jeremiah by Design.
But, a lot of the backlash that has gone against her and her kids seems misguided, and that appears to be the case with the current comments about her sons’ lack of a tan.
“Am I the only one who thinks these children look malnourished? It’s like they’ve never seen the sun…,” one person commented. “You’re definitely not the only one. Israel is so pale,” another fan responded.
A third chimed in: “Not the only one, they don’t look malnourished but so pale! No one is saying let them get sunburnt but if they spend time outdoors playing with sunscreen on they will have a nice healthy color. Babies are usually chubby even with thin parents, this one is quite skinny where Israel was nice & chubby…”
Why these people think it is ok to post negative comments about a kid is anyone’s guess, but these remarks don’t even make sense. It is impossible to tell if someone is malnourished from one picture, and paleness is not an indication of poor health.
Usually, people are just naturally pale, and they can appear even paler in the winter because of the lack of sun exposure. Of course, if the boys were both rockin’ a tan, everyone would complain that they were out in the sun too much and their mom didn’t use sunscreen.
For what it’s worth, the Duggar kids do go outside. Just a few days ago Duggar posted a pic of 3-year-old Israel out in the sun enjoying a smoothie.
As for the controversial Dillard, he is at it again with his hatred of the LGBTQ community. This past Monday, after the Supreme Court ruled 7 to 2 on the side of a Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a gay wedding, Dillard tweeted that it was a huge victory for religious freedom, and government should not discriminate against religious faith because it is a constitutional right.
Jill Duggar’s famous siblings return in new episodes of Counting On in July.
