Fans of the Duggars – the stars of 19 Kids & Counting and the spinoff Counting On – may think that the family is always excited and feeling blessed about the engagements, weddings, and babies that happen all of the time in their household. In just the first three and a half months of 2018, the family has had one courting announcement, one engagement announcement, one pregnancy announcement, and one baby born.
There are also two more babies due this summer. But, if fans look closely, they may notice that not everyone in the family cares about all of these special occasions and major life moments.
As In Touch points out, any time a camera points at one of the younger kids, it’s obvious that they are completely over anything and everything that is happening to their older siblings.
When Jill was going shoe shopping for her wedding, 9-year-old Jordyn was more concerned about her nails. When Jill had a gender reveal, 10-year-old Jennifer was not interested in hitting the piñata. Jackson, 13, couldn’t have been less interested in Jessa’s baby shower. And, at Jinger and Joy-Anna’s weddings, Jennifer couldn’t manage to speak one word of excitement.
The examples are endless, making it crystal clear that the little kids stopped caring a long time ago.
The Duggars’ TV series started a decade ago when it was first known as 17 Kids & Counting, but TLC first introduced the conservative family to American audiences back in 2004 with the one-hour special 14 Kids & Pregnant Again.
So, many of the younger Duggar kids have lived their entire lives as part of a family who are reality TV stars and have no clue what it is like not to have at least part of their family on television every week. On top of that, the little ones have so many older siblings who are getting married and having babies, another big announcement or event might as well be just another Tuesday.
The little ones are obviously bored, and now the question is who is going to eventually cash in with a tell-all book?
Meanwhile, the older Duggars are preparing to come back to TLC for yet another season of Counting On, and the network has released a preview to give fans hints on what will be featured this summer.
Because the show runs months behind real time, it looks like Joy-Anna’s pregnancy will be a part of this season, even though she already gave birth to her first child, Gideon, in February.
Both Jinger and Kendra are also expecting babies this summer, and their pregnancies will also be part of the new episodes.
It also appears that Josiah’s courtship and engagement to Lauren Swanson will be part of the upcoming season even though they announced their wedding plans just last month.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC later this summer, but the network has yet to announce a premiere date.
