Counting On just wrapped up Season 6 and TLC has not confirmed its decision to renew the show for another year. Between Derick Dillard’s controversial tweets and Joy-Anna’s alleged shotgun wedding, rumors of a possible cancellation have run wild. Has Counting On seen its final season?
According to The Christian Post, Counting On’s photography director was on hand for the Duggar’s Thanksgiving dinner in Arkansas. Several scenes were reportedly shot by producer John Rotan during the holiday celebration and are expected to be included in Season 7.
Rotan hasn’t confirmed that he filmed the Duggar’s Thanksgiving dinner, but he did tweet about it with Amy Duggar on social media. Just because Rotan may have filmed a scene or two for the upcoming season doesn’t mean that TLC will give the show the green light for Season 7.
Derick Dillard’s controversial tweets have made headlines all year long. Mommyish reports that Dillard left fans in an uproar after he bashed fellow TLC Jazz Jennings for being transgender.
Dillard’s wife, Jill Duggar, also stirred up drama when she shared photos of herself with a nose piercing, something that does not match up with the Duggar’s conservative views. Following Dillard’s actions on social media, TLC released a statement about Dillard’s future on the show, which is one reason why fans are anxious to hear about the new season.

Dillard and Jill have not talked about the Jazz Jennings tweets or TLC’s decision to remove Dillard from the show moving forward.
Instead, the couple recently took to Twitter to ask fans to donate funds for Dillard’s missionary work. Even if Counting On gets renewed for another year, it is clear that Dillard will not be involved. Exactly how involved Jill is in Season 7 is yet to be determined.
This past weekend, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar opened up about the new season on their official family blog. According to International Business Times, the couple revealed that they haven’t heard anything from the network about the new season, despite the fact that six weeks have passed since the end of Season 6. While they haven’t heard positive news, the Duggars assured fans that they will pass along whatever they hear as soon as possible.
Apart from Dillard’s controversial tweets, Joy-Anna Duggar also found herself in the hot seat with her husband, Austin Forsyth. Shortly after the couple tied the knot this year Joy-Anna announced that she was pregnant with her first child.

Fans, however, quickly speculated that Joy-Anna looked much further along than she claimed and that she may have gotten knocked up before the wedding. Given how strict the Duggars are when it comes to courting and marriage, getting pregnant out of wedlock would be a major embarrassment for the entire family.
Joy-Anna, of course, has not addressed the pregnancy rumors, though she was clearly pregnant during the Season 6 finale of Counting On back in October. If the series is renewed for another season, her pregnancy will likely be a big storyline.
