In his most intense warning shot yet, Conor McGregor just sent out a not so subtle post aimed at Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. These two have been involved in a feud for most of 2016, with a boxing match even touted – although nobody thinks it will happen at this point. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the back-and-forth between the two.
The Notorious posted a clear message on both his Instagram and Snapchat accounts – a picture of both of them with the caption ‘I am going to break his face’. This comes as a response to a video Mayweather Jr. posted on his Instagram account. In the video, we see Nate Diaz making a bloodied Conor McGeregor tap out and Mayweather taunting him at the end. He also asked his fans to create a caption, and the winner would win $10,000. Mayweather is one funny dude – but obviously not everyone agrees (McGregor *cough*).
The feud stemmed from the public’s comparison of McGregor to Mayweather after he dispatched Alvarez easily to become the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history. Consequentially, the Notorious shattered several of his own records, including his previously held record for the highest selling UFC pay-per-view in history. Mayweather didn’t agree, and thought it was disrespectful due to all his accomplishments. The undisputed box-office king in sports history, Mayweather crossed the million-buy threshold eight times over the course of his storied career, accentuated by the humongous 4.6 million buy rate he amassed for his 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao. What pissed McgGegor of and started the feud was when Mayweather insinuated that McGeregor is an ant in comparison to him – an elephant.
Who would win in a boxing match? Do you think it will happen? I’ll personally pay anyone that can make it happen!
