When speaking with reporters over at Page Six, Angela Rye confirmed the news of her breakup with the rapper, Common, following a relationship of just one year. Despite their decision to split up, Rye told journalists that they’d continue to be friends.
Fortunately for the former flames, it ended amicably, and she had nothing but words of admiration for her ex-boyfriend. As for the future, she stated, “may we all keep loving and living.”
For the first time, Common and Rye appeared as a duo on the red carpet at the Creative Arts Emmys in September of 2017 after first hooking up in the summer of that year.
On Bevy Smith’s radio show on SiriusXM, Bevelations, Common said there was, undoubtedly, a “connection” with her. He claimed she was an “incredible human being.”
For further background, Angela Rye works as a political commentator, and while one might assume she is forever stern and politically focused, Common confirmed the contrary.
“If your dream only includes you, it is too small” @Ava DuVernay. On #InternationalWomensDay 2018, I want to lift up an amazing women and my dear friend Ava as well as her phenomenal film, #AWrinkleInTime, that is opening in theaters tomorrow. I feel blessed to call Ava a friend and to have had the opportunity to work and collaborate with her on #Selma and #13TH. I can’t wait for your film to come out tomorrow! Much love.
The rapper claimed Rye showed him how to be fun while at the same time being “conscious and aware” of the world around oneself. As a result of their romance, Common gave credit where credit was due, in the sense that Rye partially inspired his recent interest in the politics of the USA.
Rye taught him the importance of “listening more” and “doing more work.” According to the actor/musician, in 2018, it’s time to stand up for one’s beliefs more than ever.
Their words toward each other continue to be positive, with Rye stating during an interview with Vanity Fair published on Thursday, “I’ve definitely become a better human being” as a product of their time together.
The rapper hasn’t said anything about their split yet. Ironically, if they admired one another so much, it would only make sense for them to stay together. It appears as though fans aren’t getting the whole story.
