If you missed Christina Aguilera’s recent album you weren’t alone. Aguilera’s latest offering, Liberation, hit stores on June 15 and has already sunk below the top 100 on the iTunes music chart. Unless things turn around quickly, it’s safe to say that Aguilera’s comeback is a complete bust.
While Aguilera’s album keeps sliding down the charts, three of her new tracks, “Fall in Line,” “Twice,” and “Accelerate” are not even in the top 200 on iTunes. The singles are also outside of the Billboard Top 100. To make things worse, Aguilera’s tour is heading for a major meltdown.
The singer is reportedly having trouble selling tickets to her shows in the fall and there are still tons of seats available for her stops in Florida, Hollywood, Detroit, Texas, Sugar Land, Chicago, and Atlantic City. If things don’t turn around soon, there’s a chance Aguilera’s tour will be cut short.
Track 7: “Right Moves” feat. Keida & Shenseea – #Liberation isn’t all strain and strife…. You can’t serve Xtina without a dash of owning your sensuality…. There are a few tracks that are less about the struggle to liberate, and more about the liberation that comes from slipping into something a little more comfortable and enjoying yourself. This is one of those vibes. christinaaguilera.com
Aguilera’s failed comeback comes right after she dissed her former show, The Voice. The singer slammed the hit singing competition for not allowing her more freedom to express herself in front of the cameras. She claims that producers made her follow strict rules when she was a host, including restrictions on what she could wear.
Although Aguilera had nothing but bad things to say about the show that put her back on the map, an inside source told Radar Online that producers were the ones who ultimately cut ties with the singer, not the other way around.
“Her attitude on and off set was such that no one wanted to work with her anymore,” the insider shared, adding that fans were also starting to turn against Aguilera, which made their decision to fire her easier.
Track 5: Dreamers – This interlude is an intro to ‘Fall In Line,’ and includes a diverse group of young girls sharing mantras of empowerment, and saying what they want to be when they grow up. It sets a tone of returning to the youthful innocence and feeling of limitless possibility that #Liberation is all about. Shout out to Summer Rain for lending her voice to this <3
Despite all of the negative news, Aguilera is excited about what the future holds for her career. The former Voice coach recently opened up about her new album and admitted that creating new music was a refreshing experience. Liberation comes over six years after Aguilera’s last album, Lotus, which was released back in 2012.
Aguilera decided to take a break from the music world so that she could focus more on her family. She shares a son with former husband Jordan Bratman and a daughter with her soon-to-be husband, Matt Rutler. Aguilera has not gone on tour in over ten years but plans on bringing both of her kids along for the ride.
Christina Aguilera has not commented on the reports surrounding her latest album.
