The singer got candid about the reason why she left The Voice. As you probably already know, Christina Aguilera has been away from the spotlight for quite a while, but not too long ago, she returned to the industry with a brand new album titled Liberation.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Aguilera talked about her break, her new music, and upcoming tour, but also her time on The Voice and why it was ‘important’ for her to leave the show.
She was a coach on no less than six seasons, between 2011 and 2016.
But she confessed that while there she felt ‘disconnected for a while and I wasn’t in the right headspace either being in an environment that was just not good for me.’
Now, she explained that ‘the blind audition idea was really intriguing to me because it was an opportunity for anyone to get on stage and be discovered, regardless of how they looked. I also saw blatant things that I did not think were okay and that I am sure no one would want to put up with in the work environment. It was important for me to step away.’
The talented songstress went on to talk about going on a tour for the very first time in ten years!
Christina admitted that ‘the idea of the tour has actually scared me.’
But ‘with this more intimate tour, it is kind of lessening the pressure. I am dipping my toe back in this water while also giving my fans a chance to see me after they have not in so long.’
Finally, the star mentioned that she would bring daughter Summer on tour with her because she is so young.
Liberation kicks off in September. Are you looking forward to it?
