Christina Aguilera is back! The singer took to her official YouTube channel to share a beautiful, inspirational video in which she explains what inspired her brand new album titled Liberation, dropping on June 15!
‘The inspiration for the album, to me is the purest of reasons, to get back to that little girl who wants to be inspired by truth again as well as by that sense of passion for music, singing and feeling free and alive again.’
‘I have stepped so far away from that little girl and if it means going away for a while and figuring out who you are once again and what you have to say, then that is what you need to do,’ she tells her audience in the clip.
But that’s not all! Aguilera also got candid about watching her mother give up her own dreams when her dad joined the military.
She also talked about slowly getting comfortable with her own body image and letting go of ‘masks and perfectionism.’
‘I do not know why we hurt ourselves, to please someone else’s perception of self. I am sorry to my own reflection, I am sorry for putting you down. I am sorry that I struggle to accept the beauty that lies in myself.’
‘I am sorry for covering your freckles. I am sorry for hiding your scars. I am sorry I put you down. But I am willing to let you be now. But I am willing to let you free now. F*** it, this is who I am and whoever is not on board can suck my d***,’ the singer ends her video with.
This YouTube post comes after the star dissed The Voice in a recent interview, claiming she would never return because the show she was part of for six seasons was not really about music.
Instead, ‘It is about making good TV moments and massaging a story.’
Christina made it very clear that her time as a coach there made her miserable and that the singing competition was an ‘energy sucker.’
