Mel B is opening up candidly on her broken relationship, alcohol, and sex problems she’s endured over the years. During a chat with The Sun, the former Spice Girl said she is currently suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to her troublesome relationship with the producer, Stephen Belafonte.
According to Mel, her romance with him was “emotionally abusive,” and working on her book trigged chaotic emotions. In a statement to The Sun, Mel described working on her book, Brutally Honest, as “traumatic.”
The Dancing With The Stars alum admitted that reliving all of those horrible moments throughout her life was challenging, and the death of her father – which happened approximately at the same time – made her circumstances especially difficult.
Mel B, or Brown, said she had been “drinking to numb (her) pain.” According to the star, doctors diagnosed her with PTSD, and she’s now going through treatment.
Currently, she’s in a facility in the United Kingdom. The former Spice Girl said it’s not just about her; she’s doing it “because this is a huge issue for so many people.”
Stephen Belafonte denied the allegations that he was an abuser. As it was previously reported, in April of 2017, Mel filed a restraining order against her ex-husband who supposedly treated her horribly for years.
Furthermore, the reality star said Belafonte blackmailed, choked, and forced her to have sex with other women for his pleasure. Prior to finally separating with him in December 2016, Belafonte allegedly said he would “destroy” her life in “every possible way.”
In 2007, they got married after dating for two months. And in that same year, the violence began in November. Stephen allegedly choked her following the final episode of Dancing With The Stars.
And in 2012, Brown alleges that Belafonte punched her in the face after she was seen flirting with Usher during an episode of X-Factor. Last year, the judge granted Brown the right for a restraining order and ordered Belafonte to leave their home in the Hollywood Hills.
