Just in case you missed this, you should know that the former first lady Michelle Obama sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for an interview. This was her first interview since she left the White House.
Michelle and Ellen talked about the terrifying world that’s under the Presidency of Donald Trump.
Michelle Obama stated that there are indeed a lot of people who fear the future and who are feeling concerned about the whole nation.
‘People are afraid,’ Mrs. Obama stated.
‘But then there are people who feel good about the direction of the country. So that’s what makes this country complicated because it’s made up of so many different people from different backgrounds. We are this mosh pit of society, and sometimes there’s a rub,’ she explained.
‘But the thing that we have to remember, the thing I learned during the 8 years that I was in the White House, was that what we do every day in our lives, the good things that we do every day, we show empathy, we care for each other. We do have a lot in common,’ she said.
‘That’s what it means to lead with hope and not fear. And that’s all we have, is hope.’
Mrs. Obama also said that no matter how hard things will get it’s always important to love each other and to care for each other, to be empathic.
She said that we could not only show empathy when people make us you feel safe, and we have to do this all the time. Michelle stated that we have to be an open-hearted nation.
She also posted some behind the scenes moments from the show on her social media account. Mrs. Obama appeared on the Ellen Show just when Ellen was celebrating her 60th birthday.
