It’s almost been 21 years since that tragic day when Princess Diana died, but her brother, however, Charles Spencer, remembers the person she was, and her impact on the world. During a chat with reporters from People Magazine on Thursday, Spencer said that out of all of the things he finds the most tragic about Diana’s untimely passing, is the fact she will never see her grandchildren.
As royal family fans know, if she were alive today, she would be the grandma of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who are 5, 3, and 4, respectively.
Spencer said to the publication that Diana “would have been the best grandmother ever.” With that said, Spencer is pleased Diana’s memory and legacy will persist through her children, Prince Harry and Prince William.
Charles praised them for their ability to bring people together; he stated they have an “uncomplicated way that they deal with people,” which relaxes those around them and makes them feel at home.
Tragically, Princess Diana of Wales died while in a Paris hospital after a crash on the 31st of August, 1997, at the young age of 36. Tomorrow will be the anniversary of her passing.
According to Spencer, perhaps the most “amazing” thing to him is the fact Prince William and Kate Middleton are both 36 – the age Diana was when she died.
Unfortunately, Charles admits he feels a tinge of regret at the idea that he may have been able to do something. “I was furious, I wasn’t just angry.” Spencer explained that Diana has since become a “person of history.”
She wasn’t just a “beautiful” person, Charles remarked; she was a “special person.” There’s no question Diana would’ve been thrilled at Prince Harry’s recent marriage to the Suits alum, Meghan Markle, back in May of this year.
