Following the resurfacing of the rape allegations against Charlamagne Tha God, Charlamagne’s future suddenly went into peril, with many people asking for him to step down from the show. However, according to new reports, he may be cleared due to a lack of evidence.
Jessica Reid, 32, had a rape kit done 17 years ago, in 2001, when she and Charlamagne supposedly had sex. And after she had the case reopened, the police analyzed the rape kit and attempted to match it with Charlamagne’s profile; they found nothing.
Court documents obtained by the news organization claimed that The Breakfast Club host didn’t have any of his semen inside the victim, as it was inspected by the oral, vaginal, and rectal swab.
Additionally, after they inspected the skin pieces under her fingernails, the police weren’t able to find any evidence “of value.” It’s a good day for Charlamagne, who has maintained his innocence right from the start.
Moreover, he asked his cousins, who were there at the time, to do the same as well. As it was previously reported, Charlamagne was accused of raping Reid, 32, when she was a 15-year-old girl.
Due to the lack of evidence of the time, and the supposed insufficiency of the state prosecutor, Reid subsequently dropped her case.
Nearly twenty years later, Jessica claims that the prosecutor should’ve pressed for her to put Tha God behind bars, rather than cut a plea deal which included only probation and community service. Once the #MeToo allegations took off last year, Reid decided to herself that she should fight for justice.
She intended to take it all of the ways to the South Carolina Supreme Court, but unfortunately for her, the DNA evidence has just led to the finale of the case, and it appears as though it will be shut for good.
