The problematic commercial’s slogan is ‘Sometimes lighter is better!’ Chance the Rapper took to social media to slam Heineken’s new ad as racist.
In addition to that, the star thinks it is part of a much bigger media scheme to get attention. Is all publicity good publicity?
The beer ad features a bartender watching a woman across the bar who looks sadly at her glass of wine.
That is when he slides her the ‘light beer,’ but the bad part is just starting.
The said Heineken beer goes past a black woman at the bar, a black guitar player as well as a back model before stopping in front of the sad wine drinker.
Finally, we learn the ad’s slogan which is ‘Sometimes lighter is better.’
And to make matters even more suspicious, in the final shot, the woman is surrounded by white men!
Chance tweeted a link to the commercial, writing: ‘I think some companies are purposely putting out noticeably racist ads so they can get more views. And that shit racist/bogus so I guess I should not help by posting about it. But I gotta just say tho. The ‘sometimes lighter is better” Heineken commercial’s terribly racist omg.’

A lot of fans were quick to react to it, some agreeing while others thought he overreacted.
‘Yeah wtf I swear nobody saw the video they legit slid the beer past a ton of black people then once it came to the white people they say sometimes lighter is better that is high key sus,’ one user commented.
‘Yeah, it is bizarre that they would even think it’s ok. Makes me think Chance’s theory’s correct. It is subtle enough to maintain deniability but noticeable enough to gain publicity. Plus, it gives them big ups within the ‘anti-PC’ (pro-casual racism) crowd.’
Chance later added that: ‘I’m not saying boycott them or go off I’m just noticing how often it happens and I think they baiting consumers and tweeters and freelancers and shit. Like I didn’t wanna tweet about it so bad, but it’s like how can u not.’
One fan joked that ‘They said SOMETIMES lighter is better,’ while another wrote: ‘Bruh, you reaching with dis,’ suggesting the ad was not really racist.
