Chad Michael Murray has come out to defend himself following the comments from his ex-wife, Sophia Bush, who co-starred alongside him on One Tree Hill back in the 2000’s. As it was previously reported, Sophia said she felt pressured by people around her to get married to him, meaning that she never wanted to settle down in the first place.
As you may know, Sophia and Chad met each other on the set of the hit series and got married back in 2005, just a year after they chose to get engaged.
However, it didn’t last long, and just five months later, reports surfaced claiming they had broken up. They divorced in the following year, and on Wednesday, Sophia said to Andy Cohen that she didn’t want to get married to him in the first place.
She said, “it wasn’t a thing I actually really wanted to do,” and said her co-workers and friends pressured her into doing so. Clearly, Murray couldn’t let her get away with something like this, so, through a representative, he chose to respond.
A spokesperson for Murray in a statement to People Magazine said that her story is completely “ludicrous” and that he always conducts himself in a professional manner. The actor said that he never would marry anyone other than love, and genuinely loves acting.
Cohen asked her how she got talked into marrying Chad Michael Murray, and she said that she didn’t want to let everybody down. According to Bush, her bosses and co-workers told her that she was the only reason Murray was coming to work on time every day.
And if Chad didn’t come to the set, that means there would be no One Tree Hill, so she had to marry him, otherwise, he wouldn’t show up for filming. Later on, Bush said she was sorry for her comments and that she was “making fun of myself.”
She said on Instagram Stories later on that her past self wouldn’t have been impressed with this at all, and her anxiety would’ve had her very upset and up at night. However, these days, she’s a lot more mature, and instead, chose to handle the situation with grace.
