Michelle Williams and her pastor fiancé, Chad Johnson, have called off their engagement after only eight months. The former Destiny’s Child singer announced the news on her Instagram Friday morning to her followers and fans online.
As it was previously reported, Michelle and Chad were battling it out on an episode of Chad Loves Michelle, broadcasted by Oprah Winfrey’s network. A source who spoke about their romance earlier said, “Chad wasn’t pleased that she called it off once again. He’s kind of devastated at the moment, but I’m sure he’ll work through it.”
Following the release of her new song, “Fearless,” Michelle said she will remain as the title of her track describes – fearless. “I guess I still remain single!” the singer said, adding that things just didn’t pan out the way she had hoped.
Back in October, while promoting the OWN reality television series, Chad Loves Michelle, the 38-year-old Williams said to reporters that she and Johnson were stoked to broadcast their engagement to the world.

My thoughts between the matinee and evening performance of @onceislandbway. I hate fear. I hate what it does………..it keeps you paralyzed. Instead of making a move…..you make NO move because you’re scared…..I want EVERYTHING God has for me but I/you can’t be scared to MOVE!! ❤️
Moreover, she and Chad said their decision to seek out counseling was a great way of working things through. However, clearly, it wasn’t enough for them to stay together.
During a chat with reporters in Los Angeles at The Paley Center’s Gala Tribute to Music on Television, Michelle said that it “has worked for me,” as well as her fiancé.
She had to learn “how to communicate all over again…I’ve been on my own over twenty years – you don’t have to tell me what to do,” the former Destiny’s Child singer explained.
It was challenging to try and accommodate Chad, Michelle explained, despite the fact she has worked alone for so many years. As you may know, Williams and the 40-year-old Johnson met back in March of 2017 during a spiritual retreat organized by the latter.
Not only is Johnson a pastor, but he’s also a life coach. In the past, Chad has worked as a chaplain for the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Entertainment Tonight claims this is the second time in total since Williams first called off their engagement. Williams said in October that she had ended their romance after she went into a treatment facility for severe depression.
