We hear that Celine Dion is not going to go all out on her birthday! The singer is turning 50 this Friday, and apparently, she is only planning to spend some quality time with her family at home on the special day.
Obviously, her sons – twins Eddy and Nelson, 7, and 17-year-old René-Charles Angelil – are going to be by her side as well.
But even though that sounds nice enough, we have learned that Celine had different plans for her birthday initially.
She wanted to celebrate during her concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
However, as you may know already, the star had to postpone no less than three weeks of shows in order to undergo ear surgery.
One insider explained that ‘She is now looking forward to spending time with her kids and loved ones on her big day.’
Last week, Celine announced that she had no choice but to cancel all of the shows previously scheduled between March 27 and April 18.
Her team took to social media to explain that the star had been struggling with a condition known as Patulous Eustachian tube.
The condition causes some hearing irregularities and naturally, also affects singing.
‘She has been experiencing this condition for the past 12 to 18 months, but it’s been successfully treated with various ear drop medications. During the past couple of weeks, however, these medications have no longer been working to treat the condition, so she’ll undergo a minimally invasive surgical procedure to correct the problem,’ the team wrote on Facebook.
Dion also released a statement saying: ‘My luck has not been very good lately… I have been so looking forward to doing my shows again, and this happens…. I just cannot believe it! I apologize to everyone who planned to travel to Las Vegas to see my show. I know how disappointing this is, and I am so sorry.’
