She’s done pretending to be humble! Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is unapologetically herself, and she loves her life! During an interview with The Mirror, the star opened up about her career and how she’s managed to become who she is today.
‘One thing I am not is humble anymore. I am sick of being humble. I really am. ‘So sorry I am rich. So sorry I am married to a movie star. So sorry I am not so bad looking.’ No sorrys. Enough. All that is important to me now is my work. That is what I love, and the rest of my life is a joy because I have got two beautiful kids and a healthy, happy husband. It’s all good, and I am not going to be humble for that either,’ the 48-year-old actress said. You go, girl!
She went on to make it very clear that she has really worked hard to ‘get to where I am.’
‘And for many years all of us are victims of the fact that we have all got so humble. If you are a sports star and won an award, you would go, ‘S**t! Yeah, that was the best work I have ever done! I rocked!’ Whereas actors are like, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry and thanks. Can I say thanks?’’
Zeta-Jones also admitted that for a while, she had no more passion for making films, but now she is back in the game!
‘What shaped me as an actor, more than anything, is getting older. I genuinely lost my mojo. I did not like it very much anymore. I was on a successful path; there wasn’t any crisis or anything. And I remembered how I started off so young and became successful, because I was fearless. There was no questioning, wondering what people would think. Somewhere along the middle, I got frightened again, and I started to question myself as an actor.’
But now that she has developed an identity outside of just her career in the industry, she is done being afraid.
As for her two kids with Michael Douglass, who aspire to become actors as well, she said: ‘I am so proud. It is not about fame for them. They have been brought up around famous people. They know what that is like. They want the craft because that is what they love. And it gives me such pride that they get it. They understand this is not a quick fix. They are so good. I cannot wait for you all to see which way they are going to go, because they are going to go somewhere, I’m telling you.’
