It sounds like the rapper is in a very sticky situation in the aftermath of her turning herself into the police. As you may know, Cardi B was reportedly involved in a violent strip club attack.
That being said, two attorneys talked to HollywoodLife and explained what the Bodak Yellow star’s situation right now is!
Cardi, alongside some friends, allegedly attacked two bartenders for supposedly sleeping with her husband Offset.
While the two women were talking about the incident on social media, the new mom denied she was involved, but now that she is taking responsibility, it’s pretty clear that the accusations were real.
The legal representatives made it very clear that Cardi will have to pay the victims a lot of money if she is found guilty but that is not all, as she might even go to prison.
Defense attorney Julie Rendelman shared with the outlet that ‘Cardi B received what’s called a Desk Appearance Ticket (DAT), which means that she was given a future date to return to court and face the charges. The DAT’s very common for misdemeanor charges as long as the individual charged doesn’t have any prior warrants.’
So did she do the right thing by turning herself in for the crime?
The lawyer assured the fans that ‘Turning herself in was the right move. Had she not, a warrant would have likely been issued for her arrest. This would mean she could be picked up by the authorities and brought before a judge where bail could be set. Unlike the DAT, it can take many hours.’
Apparently, her type of misdemeanor (‘A’) is usually punished with up to one year behind bars if convicted.
‘However, if she has no prior contacts with the system or even minimal contacts, it is extremely unlikely that she will be convicted of the misdemeanor, let alone see any jail time.’
