Camila Cabello was the musical guest on Today and brought a bit of politics to her segment. Before performing, Camila gave a shout out to the Dreamers and spoke about America being home to people of different races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. She dedicated the song to the Dreamers and referred to the American dream as being for everyone, regardless of where they came from. The dedication and comments come after President Trump rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Act earlier in September.
The former member of Fifth Harmony opened her performance with her new popular single “Havana,” from the upcoming album The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving.
She began with the verbal introduction and dedication and there was no debate about which side of the political spectrum Camila is on. She also met a super fan who won the opportunity to sit up front for the show.
Following her Today appearance, Camila shared clips and comments across social media networks. On her personal Twitter account, she elaborated on the introduction and dedication.
Camila dedicated the song to her family, friends, her community, and culture. You may see Camila’s tweet and video of her performance of “Havana” in the player below.
