It looks like the initial reports were correct all along, Cameron Diaz is officially retired. Celebrity Insider reported recently that the Sweetest Thing star supposedly was backing away from the industry for previously unconfirmed reasons like wanting to build a family with her man, Benji Madden.
And to add fuel to the fire, Selma Blair said her former co-star was retiring, but she later went on to backtrack on those claims.
Blair said, during a discussion of their old movie, The Sweetest Thing, that she wanted to do a sequel but Cameron was like, “I’m done.” But in a tweet which you can see below, Selma corrected her original statements. She said she was “making a joke in the interview.”
??☎️??? BREAKING NEWS ???. Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview. CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING. And for more breaking news: I am NOW retiring from being Cameron Diaz’s spokesperson. ?

Blair joked that she was now retiring from being Cameron’s spokesperson in the media. However, during a joint interview with Diaz, Blair, and Christina Applegate, the three women talked about their old film together, and Diaz confirmed she was backing away from the scene.
Entertainment Weekly asked the women if they would reunite for another movie, and Diaz said, “why not?” because she’s not doing a single thing right now.
Applegate also admitted she’s “semi-retired,” which, according to many of her fans, makes a lot of sense because she hasn’t been in a film in a long time.
Christina said her primary priorities right now are taking care of her kids, rather than acting. Diaz said, “I’m semi-retired too, and I’m actually retired.”
Despite Cameron’s claim that she wouldn’t mind doing a sequel, it appears as though she’s not really interested. Is it possible Cameron is just being kind for the sake of the interview and doesn’t actually want to be in a movie again?
