Just this past Friday, news that the single Calvin Harris wrote along with co-lyricist and former girlfriend Taylor Swift for none other than Rihanna, made it as the only single to win double platinum in the UK in 2016.
The Tweet from @rihannafacts read: “’This is What You Came For’ is the only song released this Year to be certified 2x platinum in the UK congrats @CalvinHarris and @rihanna”
Harris took it upon himself to post on Tweeter about how grateful he is to have worked with such talented people like Rihanna and Taylor Swift: “I am blessed to work with incredible artists @rihanna @taylorswift13 thank you!!!”
The tweet comes both as a surprise turn of events but also a very nice thing to say ultimately, as we know that his former relationship with Taylor did not end very well. Only a few month ago, in July the couple were not in a good place at all. Some of the conflicts between them after the breakup actually arose around and because the fore mentioned double certified with platinum song. After it was revealed that Taylor was involved in creating the song, Harris accused her of trying to make him “look bad”
He wrote: “Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though… I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.” It sounds to me like that post was more about her, at that time, new relationship with Tom Hiddleston than about the song. But now that she is broken up with the actor as well, it looks like Harris has decided to move on and be amicable.
