Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift dated for over a year. They had what seemed to be a happy relationship, and sadly it went sour. The break up occurred when Harris ended it with Swift. He essentially said that they were both on different paths and neither party was happy, so why continue dating?
When they initially broke up Harris went out of his way on Twitter to say that they still had love, but the relationship was not working.
It was nice to see a relationship end admirably, but then things changed. The admirable breakup turned into something twisted and different.
First, Swift went out of her way to write a song about Harris after the breakup. You likely heard the song “This is What You Came For,” which also featured Rihanna. Harris had a part in the song before it went on to full release.
He felt insulted that his ex would take something that they worked on together and turn it into something talking down to him. He was so angry about this song that he took to Twitter to express how he felt.
“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.”
He followed this with:
“I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Perry] ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it,”
Finally, he wrapped it up with this:
“Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one. God bless everyone have a beautiful day.”
You can clearly tell he was angry in those Tweets, even if he did end it on a positive note. After the dust has settled, Harris did admit that sending the Tweets out was not the right thing to do. His last statement was:
“It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled,”
Do you think Harris was wrong for sending out the Tweets in response to Taylor’s song in the first place?
