Following Alec Baldwin’s announcement that he would no longer be portraying Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas, in the upcoming Joker film directed by Todd Phillips, Brett Cullen revealed he would be taking the actor’s place.
Initially, Baldwin was more than willing to star in the origin movie, but he chose not to because of scheduling conflicts. The movie, which comes out next year, features the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, as well as Robert De Niro.
During an interview with reporters from USA Today, the actor said, “I’m no longer doing that movie.” Baldwin added that he was sure someone could play the role.
Reportedly, Phillips is directing and co-penning the script for the eagerly awaited Warner Brothers movie, which is scheduled for release on the 4th of October, 2019.
The prequel to the Batman films will show how the Joker became the eponymous villain. Fans of Batman are both excited, and worried, about Joaquin’s rendition of the Joker, due to Heath Ledger setting the bar very high back in 2008.
Jared Leto sparked the ire of some comic book fans in Suicide Squad, a performance that polarized audiences, with some saying it was excellent, while others argued it wasn’t impressive.

In the original comic book, Thomas Wayne is not only a business magnate but also a philanthropist in Gotham City, fostering a reputation for himself as a great man, willing to do his best work for the city.
As fans of Cullen know, he mostly has supporting roles in popular films and television shows, appearing in The Dark Knight Rises as a congressman, as well as in Netflix’s Narcos.
Some of his other productions include The Shallows along with Blake Lively as well as The Guilt Trip. While it’s sad to see Baldwin leave the Joker, fans can look forward to a stellar performance from Brett Cullen.
