We are about to hit the two-year mark on the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce drama, and it is nastier than ever. At first, when Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, they attempted to keep things private with a mediation. But now, the couple is making headlines on a daily basis because they can’t agree on child support and custody.
According to People Magazine, the shocking split happened after Pitt allegedly got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with his oldest son Maddox on the couple’s private plane, but after a DCFS investigation, they determined that no charges were necessary because there was no finding of abuse.

By October 2016, Jolie had physical custody of the children, allowing Pitt weekly 5-hour visits supervised by a therapist, and the former couple released a joint statement saying that they had decided to get through the divorce in a confidential manner in front of a private judge.
Over the next year-and-a-half, they went their separate ways, with Jolie continuing with her human rights work and also producing the Oscar-nominated movie First They Killed My Father, and Pitt continuing to produce numerous projects.
But by June of 2018, their fight over custody of their six kids became a public one after court documents surfaced that showed the judge in their case warned Jolie that she could lose primary custody if she didn’t allow the children to have a “healthy and strong relationship’ with Pitt.

The judge put together a detailed visitation schedule for the summer, so Pitt would have time with the kids while they were in London with their mother. He also allowed Pitt to text and call the kids without Jolie’s supervision.
Earlier this month, Jolie’s attorney Samantha Bley DeJean filed papers in court claiming Pitt hadn’t paid child support since the separation. However, Pitt’s attorney Lance Spiegel fired back saying that he had spent over $1.3 million for bills and loaned Jolie $8 million to purchase a home.
Spiegel also called Jolie’s filing “unnecessary” and called it a “thinly-veiled effort to manipulate” the media.
But then Bley DeJean shot back with her own statement, saying that Pitt’s claim of paying millions was an attempt to “obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children.”

She also said that Jolie is paying interest on that $8 million loan, and that does not represent child support, so it is misleading and inaccurate.
An inside source claims that Angelina Jolie wants full custody of the kids and would like to move to London. But, she can’t do that without Brad Pitt’s consent. And, he isn’t on board with the idea of having to fly 8 or 9 hours every time he wants to see his children.
It doesn’t look like an end to this custody battle is coming any time soon.
