It looks like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally taken another step in their divorce proceedings that began in September 2016. According to People Magazine, the former couple has begun child custody evaluations from their court-appointed evaluator, Dr. Stan Katz.
Family law specialist Steve Mindel, who has not worked on the Jolie-Pitt case, says that it is normal for the court to hire a third-party evaluator for cases that involve child custody and parenting plans.
“Courts don’t want to take a side, so that’s where child custody evaluators come into play,” says Mindel. “Stanley Katz is a very well-known child parenting plan evaluator. He’ll do an investigation, interview the parents and children individually and he’ll interview the children with the parents. He’ll also interview what are called collateral sources: grandparents, school teachers, doctors, those types of people.”

On October 12th, Katz filed documents with the court that listed his qualifications for proceeding with his evaluations, and Mindel says that the filing is simply touching base with the judge to let him know that he will complete his report and answer the questions the court has asked him to answer.
Mindel explained that this is a sign the divorce is moving alone, but there is something in the parenting plan that Jolie and Pitt can’t agree on. It could be legal issues, medical issues, education, or where the kids will be on certain days.
In August, the Oscar-winning actress parted ways with her divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, and transitioned to new counsel. People reported at the time that Jolie was focused on “healing her family,” and had agreed to continue her temporary child custody agreement with Pitt.
An insider previously revealed that Angelina Jolie has tried to bridge the gap between Pitt and their six children. But, now it is between Pitt, the kids, and the court.
While Pitt and Jolie continue to battle it out in court, rumors are swirling that Pitt has moved on and is dating once again. All he has to do is talk to someone in public, and rumors start to fly. The most recent one involves a woman named Sat Hari Khalsa, a 54-year-old spiritual healer and jewelry designer.

Earlier this month, Pitt and Khalsa were spotted “deep in conversation” while sitting next to each other at an annual benefit gala and auction at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
However, despite the reports, an insider says that Brad Pitt and Khalsa are just friends, and rumors of a romance are “nonsense.”
