Blake Shelton And Kelly Clarkson Are Closer Friends Than You May Think

Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson never pull any punches when the competition heats up on The Voice, but outside of the show, the two are closer than most fans realize. Not only do they star on the same singing competition, but Clarkson’s husband, Brandon Blackstock, is Shelton’s longtime manager.
Blackstock started working as Shelton’s manager long before he tied the knot with Clarkson. In fact, Shelton recently teased that he is the one who told Blackstock that he needed to marry the former American Idol winner before it was too late.
“I told Brandon, ‘Man, you need to grow up and you figure out that you need to marry this girl,” the country crooner teased.
According to Country Living, Shelton was set on officiating the ceremony, but those plans fell apart after Blackstock and Clarkson eloped. Even still, Shelton still spends a lot of time with Blackstock, who often visits the country star and his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.
While the two are close friends, Shelton and Clarkson still went after each other when she joined the hit singing competition last season.
Brandon, however, wisely refused to pick a side. Fortunately, Shelton gave his buddy a pass because he understood exactly what he was facing. It’s one thing if he got on Shelton’s bad side, but it’s a completely different story if he went against his wife.
For Shelton, he has come to the realization that he has to live without a manager whenever a new season kicks off.
Kelly Clarkson, who won Season 14, and Blake Shelton are just getting started with Season 15 of The Voice. So far, the competition has gone as expected, with Shelton getting a lot of love from his fellow country artists. While the two fight hard to coach the best team, it is pretty clear where their relationship stands outside of the show.
New episodes of The Voice air Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
