It looks like Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani could be one step closer to tying the knot. Reports have surfaced that claim the country superstar has made a big change in his life, and it is because he wants to marry his girlfriend.
Radar Online is reporting that Shelton is converting to Catholicism, and it’s because of his relationship with Stefani.
“Gwen was raised in a Catholic family and religion is a big part of her life,” says an insider. “She wants her three boys to have a connection with God and taking them to church is very important to her.”
The source goes on to say that Shelton converting to Stefani’s religion shows dedication and that he is truly “in this for the long haul.”
Shelton grew up in church, and back in 2016, he released his first song to Christian radio, Savior’s Shadow. But now, the 41-year-old is committed to learning the Catholic catechism to make Stefani and her parents happy.
After her bitter divorce from Gavin Rossdale, Stefani returned to her faith, and it has become an important part of her life again. And, if she is going to spend the rest of her life with someone, she wants her man to share the same values and beliefs.
Shelton started dating Stefani in 2015 after she divorced Rossdale and he went through a divorce with Miranda Lambert. Since then, the Honey Bee singer has developed a close relationship with her sons Kingston, 11, Zuma, 9, and Apollo, 4.
Sources say that Shelton has given up drinking and really bonded with Stefani’s boys. He is sweet to them and loves to teach them new things and tell them stories. And, Stefani knows that he would be a great stepdad.
Apparently, Shelton converting to Catholicism is a final step towards the altar. And when Stefani and her parents asked him about it, he didn’t blink. All he wants to do is make Stefani happy.
During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Stefani admitted that she thinks about marrying Shelton “all the time.”
But, some insiders say that she might have to wait a little bit longer, because after two failed marriages, Shelton is afraid it could end in disaster. As he looks back on those relationships, it just seems that the best times were before marriage.
Blake Shelton did say in a recent interview that he doesn’t think a wedding is in the near future, but that doesn’t mean Stefani won’t eventually get her fairytale ending.
