From the moment they started dating back in the fall of 2015, wedding rumors have swirled around Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. The couple mostly remains coy about their plans, but sometimes hint that there are wedding bells in the future (just look at the lyrics of Shelton’s song I’ll Name The Dogs), but they always stop short of letting fans know about a timeline for an engagement and wedding.
As The Hollywood Gossip reports, obsessive fans are always on the hunt for clues that the singers are planning to marry, and one tabloid recently claimed that Shelton’s recent conversion to Catholicism is the couple’s “final step towards the altar.”
But, that’s not the only major change Shelton has reportedly made in his life in recent weeks. Stefani has apparently asked her man to quit the one activity he is most famous for besides singing – drinking alcohol.
She has made the request so that he can be an ideal stepfather for her three boys, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. But, for those who know him, Shelton’s drinking is legendary and a significant part of his persona. However, sources claim that he was happy to quit drinking for good when Stefani asked him.
But just because it appears that Shelton is taking some big steps that could result in a day fans have been anticipating for a long time, it doesn’t look like the wait is over just yet.
“I don’t think it’s anytime soon or anything,” says a source in response to the question of when Shelton and Stefani will tie the knot.
The 41-year-old did recently tell Cody Alan on CMT that he does have marriage on his mind, but he also said he doesn’t see a wedding with Stefani happening anytime soon. But, the more that time goes by, the closer you get to it.
During the same week that Shelton made those comments, Stefani appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and said that she thinks about getting married all the time. She also admitted that her three boys love Shelton.
DeGeneres told the 48-year-old that she loves being married and she thinks that Stefani should marry Shelton.
Sources say that things have been smooth sailing for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, and even though they don’t openly talk about getting married, they do talk like they are going to be together forever. The happy couple is committed to each other and their life together.
