It’s over. Bill Hader and Maggie Carey are officially separated in the eyes of the public as well as the law. Celebrity Insider reported a few weeks ago that the couple separated back in July of this year. However, Bill just recently filed the papers and made it official.
Representatives speaking on behalf of the Saturday Night Live star said they broke up amicably. As for their history, the pair got married more than a decade ago – in 2006.
They have three children together, Hannah, Harper, and Hayley who are eight, five, and three respectively.
In a report from E! Online, Bill Hader, and Maggie split up due to “irreconcilable differences” and requested joint custody – physically and legally.
Sources at the time explained, “Bill and Maggie are great together, but they’re both incredibly busy with their careers. It’s hard to balance a flourishing and stressful job with children; it’s just so much to do.”
In the initial report from Celebrity Insider, it stated Carey and Hader are occupied with their various roles in the entertainment industry. Carey directs episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man On Earth, as well as Making History.
Bill is busy with a TV show titled, Barry, for the HBO network. It’s not surprising that they’re finding it difficult to make a relationship work considering their careers are so demanding.
During an interview with Conan O’Brien, Bill said when you’re a parent you don’t get any sleep, effectively making a stressful job even more complicated. Furthermore, in 2013, Bill revealed he did whatever his wife asks at any time because it “makes your life so much easier.” The comic explained if she asks you to wake up at 2:00 am and pick up luggage at the LAX, do it!
