Anybody who was busy in Los Angeles and had to walk around the Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night definitely noticed that it was much more crowded than usual. Of course, not that usually the traffic there is light, but now it was even worse. The cause of this situation was not, as you would expect, some road work or an accident, but a Beyonce concert. Truth be told, everybody was trying to get there in time, which caused a congested traffic, especially since it was happening during rush hour.
Even the Dodger Stadium management admitted in a statement they gave to Eastsider LA that they rarely see the traffic congesting this bad. Moreover, the concert was delayed on purpose so that fans could get a little more time to arrive on time for the event. Many reports that sprung in online and not only showed that it was technically impossible to get over the ocean of cars that were heading west around 7 PM.
But why was it this complicated, especially since there have previously been lots of Dodgers games which did not cause such a chaos? As it seems, there were many causes for this.
Eastsider LA published an email they received from the Dodger management, which gave some further explanations on this unpleasant situation. Some of the reasons the management mentioned in the text were late-arriving fans, some technical glitches they could not foresee and a huge number of drop-offs and pick-ups that took place around the stadium.
Truth be told, the Dodgers Stadium management did try to avoid such a situation. For instance, they asked fans who had tickets to show up one hour before the concert and to choose to carpool or use the public transportation instead of going in their own cars. They also ran the Dodger Stadium Express, which is only ran for ball games. Let’s just hope that next time the traffic won’t be so bad.
