Following a 40-day rehabilitation program for alcohol and mental health issues, Ben Affleck has spoken out. The 46-year-old actor released a long statement on his Instagram account on Thursday, where he talked about how he continues to receive outpatient care after finishing it up this past week.
Additionally, Ben thanked his family and friends for being there for him, defending him, and offering their support when he needs it the most. Ben has struggled with alcoholism since 2001 when he first went into a rehab for alcohol.
Reports indicate that Affleck has struggled with the illness for a long time, it apparently runs in his family. Some individuals have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism.
And it’s possible Ben may be one of those people. Some psychologists argue that a way to tell if one is especially predisposed to the illness is to take five shots within 15 minutes and measure your heart rate, to determine if the alcohol has a stimulant-like effect, rather than a depressive element.

According to the Good Will Hunting writer, fighting an addiction is a lifelong and difficult battle, and he is 100% committed to it. He has to fight, for his family and himself.
“It helps to know I am not alone,” Ben said, in reference to the tremendous outpouring of support many of his fans have sent him online. As it was previously reported, Ben first entered rehab on the 22nd of August, and Jennifer Garner was spotted driving him to the clinic.
Ben has intermittently been permitted to leave the center, that way he can get workouts in, and see his family as well. As it was noted above, Ben went into an addiction facility back in 2001, but this time around, he’s taking it a lot more seriously, especially after his second stint was completed in March of 2017.
As fans of the Hollywood mainstay know, he has three children with Garner, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel, who are 12, 9, and 6, respectively. There’s no question that Ben and Jen have had their fair share of controversies. In previous interviews, Jennifer has said that the paparazzi surrounding them following their breakup was incredibly stressful.
