Three years after their separation, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are officially over. Their relationship is done for good after Garner and her ex-husband reached a settlement shortly after he went to rehab.
As you may know, Garner filed for divorce from her ex back in April 2017, after twelve years of marriage. In a report from TMZ, they’ve reached an agreement regarding the custody of their children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
TMZ claims the legal situation was very complicated, because they didn’t have a prenuptial agreement and they also shared their money during their twelve year marriage.
The news of their divorce finalization comes after Affleck went into a rehabilitation clinic for alcohol abuse, following an intervention at his home in the Pacific Palisades with Garner and a sober living coach.
The publication states the final agreement will be signed and filed in a court of law after Affleck gets out of rehab. This won’t be the first time he’s sought out treatment for his illness, as he went back in 2001 and again in 2017.
Ben frequently attends alcoholics anonymous meetings. A source who explained the actor’s situation said his drinking was a primary factor for why he and Lindsay Shookus broke up.
As it was previously reported, Ben was spotted hanging out with a 22-year-old Playboy model, Shauna Sexton. Garner, 46, knows Ben very well and knew he had been drinking when he announced his relationship with Shookus was over.
Despite Garner and Affleck’s divorce, they’re still very close, and she does what she has to in order to help him. The actress even stalled the divorce proceedings to allow Affleck deal with his sobriety.
As you may or may not know, Garner and Ben got married in 2005, just four years after they met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001. They announced their breakup in June 2015.
