Backstreet Boys Show Cancelled After Structure Collapses Injuring 14 Fans – Video!

After rain and strong winds ended up damaging the band’s equipment and stage, The Backstreets Boys had no choice but to cancel their WinStar World Casino and Resort concert in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The one to announce this unfortunate development was none other than group member Kevin Richardson.
He tweeted: ‘Update… unfortunately, due to damage sustained in the storm earlier this evening, we are unable to perform the show tonight. Safety is always #1. Keep your tickets because, Backstreet WILL BE BACK!’
But that is not all! Prior to the show, the bad weather conditions caused a temporary structure to collapse, hurting some of the fans there!
Immediately after the incident, 911 was called to tend to the injured.
There’s also a video going around of fans helping the ones that got hurt recover following the shocking accident. Check it out:

Kym Koch Thompson, a spokesperson for the WinStar World Casino and Resort, released the following statement: ‘At 5:00 p.m., our officials began evacuating the outdoor concert venue after observing that lightning was within 4 miles of the casino. All patrons in the area were asked to move and seek shelter from the storm.’
‘However, about 150 patrons who were standing in line for the Backstreet Boys concert did not heed staff’s warnings.’
‘At approximately 5:30, the storm hit and knocked over the concert entrance trusses with around 70-80 mile an hour winds and heavy rain. Fourteen people were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals. Two have already been released. We know fans often suffer through severe weather for their favorite acts, but this was a truly unusual event and our thoughts are with those injured during this storm.’
