The gorgeous, smooth and kind contestant that won the hearts of millions on last season’s The Bachelorette, is revealing a painful and dark secret. He once suffered from an eating disorder.
Peter Kraus was the runner-up in Rachel Lindsey’s season of The Bachelorette and he instantly became one of the most beloved contestants of all times, so much so that an entirely new show has been developed with him in mind.
Kraus is currently a fitness trainer but once upon a time, those gorgeous eyes, dazzling gap-toothed smile and silver hair got him into the modeling industry. When he was just 20 years old, in order to lose a specific amount of weight and then maintain that low weight, Kraus developed an eating disorder.
He says that he was blindly trying to keep up with the competition and his male counterparts and slipped into the painful and terrible habits that come with disordered eating. He says that he “hit rock bottom” in 2007 when he realized just how thin and sick he had become.
“It was finally time to take charge of my health and fitness and learn how to do things the right way. So I enrolled myself in the dietetics program at MATC and graduated with honors, [and got] my first PT job, and my first @ironmantri under my belt two years later,” explained Kraus.
Now, he’s healthier and looks better than ever. So healthy in fact that fitness is one of the key elements involved in the new Bachelor nation show that Kraus will be a part of.
He, as well as several other past Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants, will compete in physical challenges in the Bachelor: Winter Games. The competition will mirror the Olympics and aims to be highly competitive as well as effectively incorporate the fun dating element that the Bachelor nation shows are known for.
The spinoff is going to air in February of 2018. We’ll see if Kraus also makes a love connection, as his biggest hangup on The Bacherlotte was feeling pressure to propose after such a short period of time. This show won’t have that type of expectation.
