Colton Haynes is ready to reprise his role as Roy Harper, aka Arsenal, on Season 7 of Arrow. Producers already confirmed that Haynes would be back in action, but Arrow star Stephen Amell recently teased that fans will be surprised about his expanded storyline this season. What can we expect to see from Arsenal this time around?
During San Diego’s Comic-Con International last month, Stephen Amell, Rick Gonzalez and Juliana Harkavy shared their thoughts about Haynes returning to Arrow this season. All three actors expressed their excitement about seeing Haynes on set and admitted that it is great to have him back.
Amell also revealed that Roy has been up to something since we last saw him and called his storyline “amazing.”
Amell unfortunately did not reveal any details about Roy’s journey in Season 7, but it sounds like the character is here to stay. According to CBR, Harkavy and Gonzalez also talked about Haynes’ return and admitted they were happy when they found out.
“Just as far as the overall feel on set, it’s been great, because everyone loves Colton,” Harkavy explained, adding that everyone on set missed Haynes after he left last year.
Haynes was a staple on the show for the first few seasons before taking a step back. He has reprised the role in short bursts the past three seasons, including a two-episode arc in Season 6.
The last time we saw his character he was leaving the city to help Thea (Willa Holland) make amends for everything her father did. Holland has officially left the show, and it is unclear how the series will handle Thea and Roy’s relationship moving forward.
Season 7 of Arrow, starring Amell (Green Arrow), Haynes (Arsenal), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), David Ramsay (Diggle), Gonzalez (Wild Dog), Harkavy (Black Canary), Katie Cassidy (Black Siren), and Echo Kellum (Mr. Terrific), kicks off Oct. 15 on The CW.
