Arrow is getting ready to return with its 7th season on The CW in a few months. While the series has been a huge success for The CW – and helped launch its superhero universe – Arrow star Stephen Amell never thought the show would make it this far.
Recently Amell opened up about the show’s longevity and how he feels lucky to be a part of something so successful. With the network having several shows run longer than 7 seasons (Smallville and Supernatural), Amell explained how some people don’t view a 7th season as a big milestone. But Amell and the rest of the cast and crew don’t think that’s the case for Arrow.
“We’re in rarefied air for a tv show and we’re so fortunate,” Amell shared, adding that everyone else on the show also realizes how lucky they are to still be on air.
This is not the first time Amell has opened up about Season 7. According to Comic Book, the Arrow star previously spoke about taking chances in the upcoming season because another year was not guaranteed.
Amell revealed that producers were not setting up storylines beyond Season 7, just in case the network cancelled the show, and that everyone was taking chances to ensure a cancellation did not happen.
While we don’t know what the future holds for Arrow, the cast and crew of the hit show are happy with what they’ve accomplished so far. With its 7th season right around the corner, the show is getting ready to air its 150th episode, which is a major milestone for everyone involved.
The show’s executive producer, Beth Schwartz, recently promised fans that the 150th episode will feature something special, though she didn’t reveal any further details.
Season 6 ended with Amell’s Oliver Queen in prison and Team Arrow completely fractured. The upcoming season will explore how the team pulls itself together after everything that happened last year. Fans will also see the team protecting Star City without Oliver’s guidance, which could lead to some interesting interpretations throughout the season.
Although Oliver will be off fighting his own battles, Amell promised fans that they are venturing outside of their comfort zones this season – and fans couldn’t be happier about it.
The only downside is that we still have a few months to wait for the new season. Stephen Amell returns for Season 7 of Arrow October 15 on the CW.
