Armie Hammer, like many other Hollywood entertainers, took some time off from Twitter following comments that caused him to receive a backlash of social media criticism. Other stars to take breaks from social media include stars like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, with Gomez being the most recent.
It’s common for public figures to take a hiatus due to the amount of criticism they receive on a daily basis. Sometimes, fans forget that there is a real person on the other side of the tweet.
After an article published by BuzzFeed last November provoked a brutal criticism against him, Armie decided he would leave Twitter for a little while.
The article, titled, “Ten Long Years Of Trying To Make Armie Hammer Happen,” claimed that his ethnicity played a crucial role in his success, something that the actor denied albeit with a graceful response.
Hammer wrote that “this is a toxic environment,” and he concluded it would be better for him to leave the platform for a few months.
Hammer, who also starred in movies like The Social Network and The Lone Ranger and recently received a nomination for a Golden Globe, took to Twitter to say he would “rise from the ashes” like the Phoenix.
Armie joked that executives should put a “blood alcohol measuring device” on people’s phones to avoid having them reactivate their Twitter account.
One of Hammer’s last tweets was when he stated the writers for the BuzzFeed article are “bitter AF” and perhaps he’s “just a guy” who loves his career and refuses to do anything other than that job.As you may know, Hollywood has been incredibly critical of race relations in the last two years, with many performers such as Jada Pinkett-Smith claiming that the award ceremony’s disproportionately favored white people.
