Armie Hammer is officially saying “goodbye” to Twitter. After several of his fans found out that Hammer left the platform, questions were raised as to why he chose to go. During The Wrap’s Screening series in LA on Tuesday, the star of Call Me By Your Name said, “I have no impulse control.”
Armie, like many other users on the platform, has a difficult time stopping himself from engaging with common Twitter-trolls.
He said, “If somebody says something stupid, I couldn’t help but say something back,” and from there on, it explodes to a level which he cannot control.
Armie said it’s a “toxic environment” and his life would be much better without it. Hammer said it was quite easy to delete the platform, despite the fact – in his words – that so many people love it.
Not long before the actor decided to leave the communication network for good, he came across a BuzzFeed article titled, “10 Long Years Of Trying To Make Armie Hammer Happy.” The article asked the provocative question, “how many second chances does a handsome white male star get?”
In response, Armie said that their “chronology is spot on” but their perspective is “bitter as f*ck.” Armie rhetorically asked: maybe he’s just a guy who loves his career as an actor?
In the end, perhaps, Hammer is better off focusing on his career and the audience’s perception of his work. After all, the actor is currently receiving Oscar recognition for his role in Call Me By Your Name. Recently, the production was awarded the Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Feature.
