Despite the fact that they were no longer together, new reports are claiming that Ariana Grande was still very affected by the death of her ex, rapper Mac Miller. The 26-year-old allegedly passed away after an overdose.
Now, an insider tells ET that the singer is absolutely ‘devastated’ by the tragic death.
‘Although the two ended their relationship, Ariana always shared a deep connection with Mac and wanted nothing but the best for him. Ariana is very upset.’
It makes total sense that she is mourning as the two had been together for two years before they announced their split back in May.
Even though the pair did not manage to make it work, the good memories are still there, and Ariana can’t help but feel saddened by the tragedy.
‘Despite their split, Ariana had always been supportive of his sobriety,’ another source explains to the same outlet.
Mac and Ariana were linked romantically for the first time back in August of 2016 and even collabed together, releasing a number of songs, including My Favorite Part and The Way.
After they put an end to their relationship, Ariana posted on Instagram the following statement: ‘This is one of my best friends in the entire world and favorite people on this planet – Malcolm McCormick. I respect and adore him, and I am grateful to have him in my life in whatever form, and at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for the two of us.’
She went on: ‘Unconditional love isn’t selfish. It’s wanting the very best for that person even if at the moment, it isn’t you. I cannot wait to know and support you forever, and I am so proud of you!!’
Reading this, it becomes quite obvious they had an unbreakable bond even after the split, and she wanted only the best for him.
