Fans can no longer keep up with Ariana Grande on social media. Days after announcing she split up with Pete Davidson after their whirlwind romance, Grande revealed she was taking a break from social media and the internet so she wouldn’t bump into the news.
“Time to say bye bye again to the internet for just a lil bit. It’s hard not to bump news n stuff that I’m not trying to see rn. It’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep going. love u. and thank u for bein here always,” Grande wrote.
The sadness she is referring to is not just about Davidson, but also the recent death of her ex Mac Miller which reportedly was one of the factors in her split with the SNL star. The singer has also been open with her crippling anxiety, which has undoubtedly been a factor with all the recent drama in her life.
Grande made her first post-split appearance to tape a segment for NBC’s A Very Wicked Halloween, a special to the musical’s 15 years on Broadway. While getting ready for her performance, Grande revealed that her high anxiety almost caused her to back out of the recording.
Grande has been laying low since Mac Miller’s death of from a suspected accidental overdose in September. Although she and Davidson made an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, they skipped the Emmys, and she later revealed it was to “take some much needed time to heal and mend.”
Davidson and Grande got engaged just weeks after they started dating, but she told Jimmy Fallon that she knew two years ago that he was the man she wanted to marry. Grande said that she knew when she met Davidson on the set of Saturday Night Live in March 2016 that the two were meant to be.
The singer said that after her SNL hosting gig the two didn’t exchange numbers, and they weren’t even really friends, but she had “the biggest crush in the whole world on him the whole time like forever,” and her friends used to make fun of her.
It turned out that Davidson felt the same way about Grande, and he revealed in an interview that he wanted to propose to her the day they met.
Rumors are swirling that Davidson is still holding out hope that they will get back together, even though Ariana Grande reportedly already returned the $100,000 engagement ring.
