During an episode of The Shane Show, Shane Powers – a close friend of the late artist – opened up about Ariana Grande and the positive impact that she had on Mac’s life, including her attempt to help him get on the right path to sobriety before his fateful death over the weekend due to an overdose.
Mac and Ariana were very in love, Shane remarked, and “Ariana was incredible when he was first sobering up.” According to the podcaster, Ariana was really pushing him to be sober, and was a “G” to him.
On the 10th of September episode, Shane claimed Ariana was genuinely trying to help Miller out, however, unfortunately, her efforts weren’t enough to save his life.
According to Shane, Mac’s lifestyle was insidious. His partying was unhealthy, and that much was apparent.
Whether he was an addict or not, Shane explained, she was more than willing to go to hell and back to defend him. Powers added that she was a “stabilizing force” and was forceful in the way in which she tried to help him.
As it was previously reported, Grande posted a tribute on her Instagram following his tragic passing at 26-years-old. Thus far, reports indicate that he died due to a drug overdose.
TMZ was the first to report the news that the rapper died while in his Studio City home in California. When the police arrived, rumors have it that someone cleaned the house up of all drug paraphernalia.
Mac’s death shocked the hip-hop world, as well as the larger musical community, with many stars coming out to commemorate him on social media.
Even the breakout star, Cardi B, said that Mac’s death was “really sad,” during a chat with Billboard at a New York Fashion Week over the weekend. Other stars to commemorate him include Lil’ Xan, and more.
