Ariana Grande’s split with Pete Davidson shocked many fans, but inside sources claim the breakup was actually a relief for their family members. Not only did loved ones on both sides believe they rushed into the engagement, but they also thought Grande was not in a position to make any long-term commitments.
“[Her loved ones] always thought the engagement to Pete happened way too quickly,” an insider dished. “They didn’t want her to get married to Pete.”
Grande has gone through a lot over the past year. The pop star began dating Davidson in June, shortly after her emotional split with Mac Miller, who passed away last month from a reported overdose. Davidson proposed a few weeks into the relationship, which was a huge red flag for Grande’s family.
Fortunately, the two called off the engagement before Grande even started planning the wedding. So far, the breakup has been amicable and it sounds like it was in the best interest for everyone involved.
According to People, Grande returned the $94,000 engagement ring Davidson purchased and has remained in contact with the Saturday Night Live star.
Pete Davidson, of course, has moved out of their shared home and has no plans on getting back with her. He even joked about the split during a recent appearance at a comedy club in Hollywood. The comedian told fans that he is actively looking for a new roommate.
For her part, sources claim that Grande is doing pretty good all things considered.
Apart from her initial reaction, Grande has been fairly mum about the split. She did, however, take to Twitter to assure fans she is well loved. After a fan asked if she was doing okay, Grande revealed that the true love of her life is actually her pet pig: Piggy Smalls.
Fans may recognize the pig, who made an appearance in her music video for the song “Breathin.” Ariana Grande may be going through a rough split, but at least she has some company to get her through it.
