With sadness, we have to announce that the country music fans have lost yet another of their greatest artists. According to his rep, Don Williams, best known for hits such as The Shelter of Your Eyes and I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me passed away today, September 8 after losing the battle with a short illness.
The country crooner was 78.
Don Williams had been married to Joy Buther since 1960, and the two have two sons, Tim and Gary.
As mourning fans may be aware, the crooner’s final performance took place in 2016 and was then followed by the release of a tribute album this year.
The said album is titled Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams and features several performances featuring country stars including Garth Brooks and Lady Antebellum.
Sadly, Don Williams is not the only country legend who passed away in 2017.
In fact, we have also lost Rhinestone Cowboy singer Glen Campbell, who died at the age of 81 earlier in the year.
But the most shocking piece of news is that 50-year-old country singer Troy Gentry also passed away today after being involved in a fatal helicopter crash.
Gentry was part of the country duo Montgomery Gentry.
Rest in Peace, Don Williams and Troy Gentry.
