This was the first time Angelina Jolie made a public appearance after her and Brad Pitt’s divorce announcement and sadly for any fans who hoped the famous couple would rekindle their love, it was in court. It seems like there is really no turning back and their fight for custody is definitely going to be an ugly one. However, it is not the time for that yet. Her presence in court was not because of their divorce. In fact she was not even physically there.
The 41 year old actress recorded a video for the International Criminal Court and it had the purpose of defending children in a recent policy issue.
“Successful prosecution, whether at the ICC or elsewhere is part of the long and vital generational effort,” she said in her statement. “That is the light in which I believe the court’s new policy on children should be seen.”
Without a doubt, although we all know the actress has always been involved in social issues, this time, her involvement in the case is also an image scheme that will make her look like a great mother – exactly what she needs in order to win full custody of hers and Brad Pitt’s children, even more so, as her reason for filing for a divorce was an alleged case of child abuse by Brad Pitt.
“I particularly welcome the commitment to include charges for crimes against children wherever the evidence permits as part of a more systematic approach,” she added. “I congratulate the office of the chief prosecutor, and all those working on the policy.”
The actress has admittedly visited the ICC back in April as well, but the video message that she decided to send the court comes just a few weeks after Pitt was cleared of all child abuse charges. Is this her way of protesting against the results? Her words seem a little passive aggressive, to be honest.
