Angelina Jolie’s money problems may be at the root of her discord with ex-hubby Brad Pitt. As their nasty divorce battle drags on, new court records revealed that Pitt gave Jolie over $8 million to purchase a home after their split. Jolie is now requesting more child support from Pitt, leading to speculation that her money issues might be why she’s willing to drag his name through the mud.
Insiders claim that Pitt’s fortune is far larger than Jolie’s, despite the fact that she’s made millions over the course of her career in Hollywood. The actress has not talked about money until a few weeks ago, when she requested more child support from her estranged husband.

The court records show that in addition to the $8 million, Pitt gave Jolie over $1.3 million in just under two years. But that wasn’t enough for Jolie, who is asking for even more money as their divorce remains unsettled.
According to TMZ, Pitt and Jolie did not sign a prenuptial agreement when they tied the knot. That means everything they made during their marriage has to be split in half. This definitely bodes well for Jolie, though Pitt probably doesn’t owe her much because they were only officially married for two years.
The former couple started dating back in 2004 but did not tie the knot until 2014. Jolie could receive money from back in 2004 but only if they signed an agreement.
Given her recent financial issues, Jolie is reportedly thinking about filing a claim that would reach back to 2004. Pitt, of course, is ready to fight Jolie’s claim and does not think she has any chance of winning. If they had tied the knot sooner, Jolie would be entitled more, but it doesn’t sound like they made any kind of agreement prior to 2014.

What is also interesting is that Jolie would be required to publicize her financial details if she filed a child support claim. That is why most celebrities work out child support disagreements before they get to court. If Jolie is unable to come to an agreement on her six kids, then coming clean about her finances could turn into a major embarrassment.
Angelina Jolie has not commented on the latest rumors surrounding her divorce with Pitt. The actress is currently seeking full physical custody of their six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne – while Brad Pitt wants to split everything 50/50.
